Drug Class and Mechanism

You must maintain a schedule for taking the medicine at the same time each day so that you do not miss out on any doses. But, in the advent of a missed dose, take it as soon as you remember so that you can compensate for the loss of the dose.
But, then you may need to adjust your remaining doses accordingly. And if it is almost time for the next dose, then please skip the missed dose and continue with the normal schedule.
Never try to compensate for the missed dose by taking a double dose together. It may cause adverse effects.
Actos must be stored at a cool and dark place that prevents it from direct exposure to sunlight. It should also be protected from kids and pets. You can store it at room temperature.

Ensure that your doctor is aware of your past and current medical history before you start any new treatment or medication. This must include any and all diseases that you have suffered /suffer from, all subscription and over the counter medication that you are taking, including vitamins and herbal supplements. This will help avoid a possible interaction or allergy.
In some cases, the medication might be altered or require special attention if you suffer from conditions like allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Actos, if you have a history of liver problems, abnormal liver function tests, heart problems (eg, congestive heart failure), eye or vision problems or have swelling problems (edema), if you have diabetic ketoacidosis (a severe problem associated with diabetes) .
Actos is known to make some people dizzy or drowsy. And if you consume alcoholic beverages, then the chances of this happening increase greatly. Hence, alcohol and alcoholic beverages must be strictly avoided while taking Actos. If you have experienced drowsiness after taking Actos, then avoid tasks that require mental alertness for example, driving, handling heavy equipment or machinery etc.
Certain laboratory tests may be made mandatory while you are using Actos. These tests are conducted to analyze your progress to treatment and guage the degree to which side effects are being experienced. You must never miss out on any such lab tests.
Your lab technician or doctor must be informed that you are taking Actos before you undergo any lab tests or emergency surgical procedures.
Diabetic patients are always advised to carry an ID card on their person that mentions about their diabetic condition and Actoss they are using currently. This information may prove to be invaluable in certain scenarios.
Actos is not to be used for treating Type I diabetes.
Diabetic medications like Actos work most effectively when they are combined with lifestyle changes like regular exercise and a healthy diet.
Constant blood sugar monitoring must be carried out in diabetic patients. If you find that your blood sugar levels are not improving despite using Actos, then contact your physician immediately.
If you are experiencing rapid heartbeats, vision changes, headaches, chills, or tremors, hunger, then please note that these are signs of low blood sugar. This is a common situation that can be avoided by consuming all meals and medications on time. Never skip a meal or a dose of medication.
Also quickly consuming a source of sugar (table sugar, honey, candy, orange juice, or non–diet soda) is the first aid for low blood sugar. Consume it and then seek medical attention.
If you are planning to have a baby or are pregnant already then you must seek advice from your doctor before using Actos. Discuss the effects and possible risks that Actos usage may have on the unborn baby.
If you are breast feeding your child, then too seek medical advice before using Actos. Some drugs may be excreted in the breast milk and may harm the baby.
